Wow, I have never said this before, but I will now. Quell Reflect is currently the best puzzle game that I have played on the Android OS. It is a combination of flawless design, execution, and features plenty of extras that make it stand out.
All of this is made even better by the exclusion of permissions and any sort of bloatware! Download it now for free or buy it later, you won't be sorry.
After spending mere hours with Reflect, I bought the original Quell (which while good, is not as perfect as this sequel).

If you want to take a look at the actual review, keep reading.

The object of Quell Reflect is to navigate a drop of water through a maze (level) and collect all the pearls scattered there. This must be done in the least amount of moves possible and doing so yields precious coins (that buy hints), which in turn help you in the later stages. There are obstacles thrown in for good measure (spikes, one way walls, teleportation rings, etc) and the levels are so well designed that solving them is actually calming.

Quell Reflect has simple yet elegant graphics. They look like something hand painted by an actual artist, and even the level backgrounds feature falling droplets of rain over hand painted canvas. The graphics are above and beyond what I would expect from a game like this, and add to the serene, picturesque qualities of this masterpiece.

The sound is no slouch either. Consisting of mellow tones and excellent effects that really help you unwind. Combined with the graphics and gameplay, I really found myself relaxing and enjoying my time with the game.

Good things don't end there. There are also achievements, multiple profiles, an excellent tutorial, an awesome "Making Of" feature, and absolutely NO bloatware of any kind.

A few reviewers mention Amazon Game Circle and bring up some issues with it, this is a concearn for Kindle Fire users only, and they can always say "No". While AGC does allow for a few things that I don't appreciate (IAP), the fact that it is optional in Quell Reflect, and is only a problem for KF owners - shouldn't really matter much for the rest of us.

To sum things up: Get this game. Free, or for the measly $.99 that Fallen Tree Games charges for it. It has tremendous value and will keep you entertained for many hours.
Developers should be praised and rewarded for making games with no permissions, bloatware, IAP, or other issues, and if they happen to actually be fun (as is the case here) - well even better!

Good job Fallen Tree Games. I hope to see more excellent games from you in the (near) future.

good game, but very annoying when you pass levels, that they don't stay "passed" when you turn game off and then go back to play again assuming that you could just start right back up where you left off, but nope. You have to start back at level one. so its basically like I only have about a dozen levels to rotate through, because that's all I would ever have time to play at one time. needs to be fixed.

I've always enjoyed the original Quell so, when I saw Quell Reflect was today's free app of the day, I didn't hesitate to download it.

When you first start the game, you'll be in an area that looks quite aged in time. You're in, what appears to me as, a darkened brick laid basement with, several vintage items neatly stacked against the walls, On the level select screen, you'll notice that each group of puzzles is assigned a year in the past placed in photo frames on a shelf. There are also 4 secret levels included. You can access these levels by tapping the FAN on the opening screen of the app. You'll immediately be forwarded to the secret 4 levels but if you tap the back button you can then access the larger group of levels. (Each labeled from the year 1962 to 1975)

Your goal is to collect all of the pearls in the least number of moves possible. The game gives you an idea of what that number is in each level in the top-left corner of the screen. Be careful though! Unlike the original Quell, Quell Reflect has multiple droplets with more & different obstacles like Red Drops & Gold Blocks. And, they still can only move in one direction. You'll need to plan a few moves ahead in order to avoid getting stuck in a corner with no way out! You can earn coins by completing levels with perfect moves. If you complete a level in that number of moves, you're awarded a hint token. Coins can be used for hints & it takes 4 coins to receive one hint. Once you've reached the next level, if you need a hint, tap the Pause button || in the upper Left hand corner then, tap "Hint". You'll need to use coins if you have accumulated enough points to earn any.

This is an amazing puzzle app with a very serene feel to it as you play. I attribute the calm earthy tones that were used in the apps graphics as a partial reason for why I felt a warm, safe ambiance & a calm serenity during game play. However, the most likely reason must be blamed upon the haunting yet strangely soothing audio that was chosen. The soundtrack, combined with the app's colors, creates a relaxing zen-like environment unlike any other puzzle app I've ever played. Or any other app genre, for that matter. Although, I don't know just how long I will personally remain this calm & serene once I become frustrated with the puzzles that will undoubtedly become increasingly more difficult to solve! ;-)

Zero Permissions Required & NO In App Purchasing! Thank you Fallen Tree Games! :-)

Size of app before download 20.2MB
App size Unpacked after download on Kindle Fire 21.43MB

As the free app of the day today, I most definitely HIGHLY recommend that you check this one out!
And for those of you that might have missed the FAOTD? It is absolutely worth the low .99¢ price tag!

This is a 5 star game hands down!!

I only get FAOTD apps. And only ones with acceptable permissions which today seem to be few and far between anymore.

But there have been a bunch of apps lately that have acceptable permissions and change them after they are the FAOTD. Obviously I refuse to update but others need to be notified. Since I've now got a new phone, I'm going to lose the list of these offenders so I'm going through and doing it today.

This was one of my all-time favorite games. It really sucks to see this happen. The developers got greedy and destroyed it. They added the permission:

    * Google Play Billing - View Network State... etc.

which also forces the game to be online to be played (or whatever they did to the game while adding this does that. either way... greed destroyed my second all-time favorite time waster. (the original my first)) I actually had a tear... then uninstalled.
